The profession of Chiropractic is now over one hundred years old and has gained increasing respect among both health care professionals and the general populace for its highly successful treatment of muscular skeletal dysfunction. In recent years, growing interest and greater awareness of the benefits of Chiropractic have lead to extensive, international studies which confirm what many relieved patients have long believed and experienced, that Chiropractic care is a fast, effective and cost-containing treatment for muscular-skeletal pain, especially in the low back. It works without the use of prescription drugs that can sometimes cause side-effects or the invasive option of surgery.

Increased cooperation between the medical and chiropractic communities has resulted in clear benefits for the person suffering from back or joint complaints. It is now common for many companies and HMOs to include Chiropractors on their list of providers, and most insurances cover chiropractic.

Dr. DeRegibus enjoys a positive working relationship with many in the local medical community; about half of the new patients that come to Farmville Chiropractic Center have been referred to the office by their family medical physician. The majority of the others are encouraged to come to the center by family or friends who are currently being helped or have been helped in the past through the care they received at the Farmville Chiropractic Center.

In the same way, it is sometimes necessary to refer a patient with extreme or unusual problems to other specialists for further tests or other treatment. However, most of the patients who come to FCC need no such referral; over 85% notice significant improvement and relief within only two weeks. A much smaller group need an additional week or two to receive optimal benefit. Many patients have found through experience that it is to their benefit to be treated on a regular basis, coming in once a month or three to four times a year.

Initially new patients who are accepted for treatment are asked to undergo a two therapeutic trial. At the end of the sixth visit, the patient must feel and demonstrate significant improvement or care is discontinued. We feel this approach protects both the patient and us. To the patient it means that he or she doesn't have to worry about coming for treatment forever and a day and to us it means that we don't have to worry about getting the patient well in one visit.
