The patient's health is of paramount importance, and his cooperation is absolutely necessary for the resolution of his disorder. Both doctor and patient can be thought of as a team working together to overcome the patient's disability. Both parts of the team must do their respective jobs.

This office refers from 60 to 80 patients annually to allied health care providers. The criteria for referral is a complex one dependent on the many factors involved. In brief, the patient should expect to see definite improvement in their condition within two to three weeks of care. If not the patient will be referred for additional tests or to another health care provided entirely.

At the Farmville Chiropractic Center our cost of services is based on the usual, customary, and reasonable fees (UCR) set by the insurance industry. In addition, we have implemented may cost containment policies including being contract providers for Medicare and Blue Cross Blue Shield, cash discounts, and sliding scale discounts.

Virtually all major brands of insurance cover Chiropractic care, as does Medicare, workmans compensation and auto accident insurance. Rarely, a patient's policy may not cover chiropractic care. These patients are encouraged to speak to the agent who sold them their policies. Sometimes chiropractic, like dentistry, must simply be paid for out of one's pocket. This is expensive, but like dentistry, chiropractic services are unique and necessary.

The success or failure of chiropractic treatment largely depends on how carefully the treatment schedule is followed. Patients with long standing, chronic conditions can hardly expect to be well following two visits to the chiropractor. The frequency and length of care for a given patient is dictated by the seriousness of that patient's problem. The patient must understand that the course of his treatment and the eventual outcome of his condition is in a large part determined by his compliance with the doctor's recommendations including: treatment frequency, exercise, weight control, lifting, and correct posture.
