This is a Fritillary
butterfly on the Butterfly Bush.
The bush was loaded with the little guys. How satisfying when there is evidence that
our efforts at attracting these beautiful creatures is working! |

Some friends laughed when I said I
was going to grow a topiary from a forsythia start. |
Well, here
it is. The tree
tape wrapped around the main trunk kept it from bushing out there. It did take diligent trimming at the
bottom to eliminate fresh starts.
One year it was round, the next a triangle. I had fun with it. |
Hellebores
are a lovely delight because they bloom so early in the spring. That is snow you see on the ground! Spring 2006 was very cool so they
continued to bloom far into May. |

This year
I have taken to growing a lot of my kitchen herbs in pots on the carport
ledge. These are nearer to the
kitchen and are less likely to be “forgotten” when the ground is
tilled so I won’t have to replant. I will
however, need to bury the pots in a bed so they will winter over for us. |

This is Lovage! It is the best herb ever when used as
a straw in a tomato cocktail. It
has a peppery celery flavor. |
This box
has some Tyme and a variety of Oregeno known as Hot and Spicy. |

It is amazing to see how many
butterflies will flock on the butterfly bush in this garden! The Butterfly bush has both purple
and white blossoms. |
